MotorCar Doctors Auto Repair is an independent shop on Canyon Road in Beaverton. We opened in November 1995, and we have been in the same building, with a lot of the same people, ever since. Today we handle the full range of repair and maintenance for cars, light trucks, hybrids, and EVs: brakes, suspension, diagnostics, heating and cooling, electrical, and the scheduled maintenance that keeps a car out of the shop the rest of the year.

How did Clutch Doctors become MotorCar Doctors?

The shop opened as Clutch Doctors, became Clutch & Brake Doctors as customers started bringing us the rest of the car, and took the name MotorCar Doctors Auto Repair in 2018 when it became a full-service shop. The name changed. The way we work did not. Clutch work is still a big part of what we do, and the measurement-first habit it taught us is what we bring to every job.

What should you expect when you bring your car in?

You see what we see. Every vehicle gets a digital vehicle inspection. The technician photographs what he finds, measures what can be measured, and sends the report to your phone. The estimate comes after the inspection, not before, and you approve the work line by line.

We tell you what can wait. A report will often list things that are not urgent. We say so, put the numbers next to them, and let you plan around them. A lot of our customers have been coming here for twenty years because the estimate matched the invoice the first time.

The work is backed. Repairs carry a warranty on parts and labor, and qualifying repairs carry a 36-month, 36,000-mile nationwide Worldpac PAC warranty, so a breakdown far from home is covered too. Brake pads we install are covered for life.

Getting here is easy. Free brake inspections, free loaner cars and a shuttle when a job runs long, an after-hours key drop just to the right of the front door, and financing for the bigger jobs.

Who will work on your car?

Jeff Nootenboom has been in the industry since 1989. He started as a service advisor at an Acura dealership, then managed a chain of clutch shops in Northern California before opening this one. Rob Lamont, our senior technician, has been with the shop since 1999. Joseph Matte handles diagnostics, and Eli Pittenger runs the front of the shop. You will see the same faces on your next visit that you saw on your first. Meet the team.

What kinds of vehicles and repairs do you handle?

Cars, light trucks, hybrids, and EVs, with Toyota and Honda making up the biggest share of what comes through the door. Most days that means brakes, suspension, check engine light diagnosis, heating and air conditioning, electrical and charging problems, and scheduled maintenance like oil changes, fluids, and filters. Every visit starts with a digital inspection so you see what we found before anything is recommended.

Do I need an appointment?

No. Bring the car by any time Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and we will get it in the system and onto the schedule. The sooner we have it, the sooner we can get it fixed. Booking ahead helps us have parts ready, and there is an after-hours key drop just to the right of the front door if you want to leave the car the night before.
