Jeff Nootenboom founded MotorCar Doctors in 1995 with a simple belief: do what’s right for the customer, and everything else will follow.
Originally from Minnesota, Jeff brought his Midwestern work ethic to the Pacific Northwest, where he built MotorCar Doctors into a trusted name in auto repair for drivers throughout Beaverton and the surrounding communities.
Jeff’s automotive career goes back to 1989, beginning in the service department as a service advisor for Acura. That early experience gave him a strong foundation in customer communication and the importance of clear, honest recommendations, something that still defines how MotorCar Doctors operates today.
With deep roots in clutch repair dating back to 1989, Jeff went on to manage Clutch Mart, a chain of clutch shops in Northern California, where he gained extensive experience in operations, diagnostics, and high-level service management. That foundation helped shape the systems, standards, and expertise that continue to guide the shop.
He originally built the business around clutch repair, becoming a recognized expert in a highly specialized field. As vehicles evolved, so did the shop, expanding into brakes and eventually full-service auto repair to better serve Beaverton, Tigard, Hillsboro, and the surrounding areas.
Jeff’s experience covers every aspect of the industry, from technical diagnostics to sales and service. That well-rounded background allows him to make practical, honest recommendations that prioritize what the customer actually needs, not what sells the most.
As an owner, Jeff’s focus is simple: give his team everything they need to succeed. Whether that’s the right tools, training, or support, he believes that when the team performs at their best, customers get the highest level of care.

Outside of the shop, Jeff enjoys anything with an engine: snowmobiles, dirt bikes, street bikes, and track riding. Most importantly, he values time with his family, including his three children and his granddaughter.
