A 2016 Honda CR-V with 88,067 miles came in this summer for an inspection, and senior technician Rob Lamont flagged the CVT fluid as due on age and mileage. There was nothing dramatic to show: a CVT does not announce that its fluid is tired, which is exactly why the interval matters more than the symptoms.
The owner came back on September 10 and had it done: a fluid exchange with the Honda CVT fluid the transaxle calls for, a leak check, and the inspection report to go with it. The fluid service came to about $320 after a discount, and the CR-V went home the same morning.
