What kinds of preventative maintenance services do you recommend to make my car last longer?
Having your oil changed regularly and your vehicle inspected by a qualified technician is one of the most important things you can do to increase the life of your car.
I have a new car. Can you perform my factory recommended maintenance?
Yes. We can perform all recommended factory maintenance schedules you need to keep your new car warranty intact.
Can you do factory recall work on my new vehicle?
No. All recall work has to be performed by the dealer.

We do digital vehicle inspections for all repairs and service, along with pre-purchase vehicle inspections.

My car is making a funny noise, can you tell me what’s wrong with it?
Schedule an online appointment, or give us a call. Every car, truck, and SUV is a complex machine with various symptoms for many issues. We will likely need to see your vehicle before making a complete diagnosis.

We don’t sell tires.
What does an oil change cost?
There are several factors when quoting a price for an oil change, (Number of cylinders, type of oil, vehicle manufacturer), give us a call so we can provide an accurate estimate.
What precautions are you taking for COVID-19?
We’ve taken extra steps to ensure your safety during the pandemic. We clean and disinfect all touchpoints (including your keys) and wear disposable gloves and masks while working inside your vehicle.
How often should I rotate my tires?
Most manufacturers recommend that your tires should be rotated every other oil change or every 6000-10,000 miles. Neglecting to rotate tires is a major cause of premature tire wear.
Is it really necessary to replace my timing belt at the recommended interval?
YES. The failure of a timing belt in many cars can result in major engine damage. The cost of repairing an engine with a broken timing belt is much greater than the cost of a timing belt replacement.
What does it mean if my “check engine” or “service engine soon” light comes on?
There are many sensors and computerized components that manage your vehicle’s engine performance and emissions. When one of these fails, the “check engine” light is illuminated. Although your car may seem to run fine, it is important to have the issue addressed to prevent long-term problems.
What should I do if my car starts to overheat?
This is a very serious problem – if your car overheats for too long, you can damage your engine. As soon as possible, find a safe place to pull off the road and shut the engine off! Do not attempt to check the fluid level in the radiator; the hot fluid can cause severe burns. The best thing to do is have your car towed to the nearest, trusted auto repair facility.
When should I get my oil changed?
You should get your oil changed every 3000 miles or as recommended in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
Why is engine oil milky brown?
Milky brown engine oil is an indication of coolant in the oil. This can be caused by a blown head gasket (or another gasket), a failed transmission cooler, or cracked casings. This condition is very serious and needs to be checked by a professional technician immediately.
How do I make sure my car battery has a good electrical connection?
Battery cables and terminals should be cleaned and inspected periodically to make sure they provide a good electrical connection.
Should I consider using synthetic motor oil in my vehicle?
Synthetic motor oils can be a good choice for high output, turbocharged or supercharged engines. Or for vehicles that are used for towing (especially during hot weather), and vehicles that operate in extremely cold or hot climates. Although more expensive than mineral-based oils, synthetic motor oils can improve fuel economy and provide longer intervals between changes.
When should I replace my car’s fuel filter?
To help ensure dependable, trouble-free performance, replace your car’s fuel filter approximately every 30,000 miles or as recommended in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
When should I change my spark plugs?
For maximum fuel economy and peak engine performance, most manufacturers recommend your spark plugs should be replaced every 30 months or 30,000 miles, unless your vehicle is equipped with 100,000-mile platinum-tipped spark plugs.
I need to replace a burned out fuse, what should I do?
Always replace burned-out fuses with ones of the same amperage (printed on the fuse) and note that if a fuse continues to “blow,” you should have the circuit checked professionally by one of our technicians for defects.
How often should I replace my air filter?
To keep your engine free of debris, dust, and dirt, we recommend getting your air filters replaced every 15,000 to 30,000 miles or as recommended in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.

I actually spent no money the first time they serviced my car. My check engine light was on. For no charge, they topped off my oil and did a visual inspection of the engine along with a quick test for repair codes. Ultimately, the full diagnostic was not needed since the codes were concerning the engine had been low on oil. When my check engine light came on several months later.. they ran a full diagnostic at my second visit and discovered my oil leaking onto my spark plugs. It was an all day job and they drove me to and from my home while my car was worked on. I had brought my dog to the shop and they loved him. They were courteous, explained everything well, and willing to work on a SmartCar, which is a difficult service to find for this vehicle. I believe their prices are honest.. I would totally recommend. And I continue using this garage for my SmartCar with excellent service from them. Latest service was an oil change this month.

My kids car wouldn’t start so we had it towed there. They charged up the battery, found what was draining the battery, and put oil in his car and let us know of other issues found and only charged us for the oil. They have always been honest and give great service! Thank you

My brother took me here because of my check engine light was on for an evap code. they got me an appointment for the next day and turns out all I needed was a OEM gas cap. After having a terrible experience at another shop I brought my car here. They figured out my clutch master and master slave cylinder needed replacements. It didn’t take them long at all to figure it out either. And after the other shop mis diagnosed my car and that shop having my car for days….it was a good feeling to have it figured out so quickly. They did a full inspection of my car, and 3 services for a way better price, and honestly got my car back in better condition then I gave it to them. Chris and Eli were both very communicative. My girlfriends and I were on a road trip through Oregon and started having car trouble. We got in late Tuesday night and I started searching for mechanics in the area and came across MotorCar Doctors. The rear window on the driver side decided to not go up last week. Come to find out the motor was toast. So I went over to my guys and they took care of me in a timely manner as usual. As an afterthought I asked them to check my battery and they did put the little machine on it. I guess that then I spit out a ticket telling me that it was 100%. So at least something's going right with the car LOL. The technicians are always very efficient. But I have to say Eli and Chris. They're my buddies. Pat

Motorcar doctors (previously known as Clutch Doctors) are great, they have taken great care of Mimi (my beloved purple speed-demon vampire car) for the past 10-ish years, and they have (on several occasions) even done things for her that they didn't charge me for, and they always park Mimi inside when she stays overnight because she has a soft top (so I am paranoid about break ins if she is left in the parking lot over night). Today I took her in because she was squeaking underneath in a new way, and I was braced for needing transmission or suspension work, thinking omg what now (25 year old Miata, admittedly she is "at that age" where things can go wrong), I'm thinking omg his is going to be expensive. Turned out it was just a loose bolt and they didn't charge me. Thank you so much, I feel like you know Mimi (and me) so well. Here is to another 10 years 🙂

Take the auto generated, suggested maintenance report that they give you with a grain of salt, Helpful, but some of the suggested repairs on my car had already been completed and did not show up on their report.
